Pawan Kumar

I used to take my mom’s ribbons and tie them around my lower back thinking they’d look like the tail, and then take the little yellow plastic cricket bat on my shoulder, and jump around the house acting as the Indian god – Hanuman. Thats the first bit of acting I think I started with.

Growing up as a very shy child, it was in my 9th grade that I slowly started opening up to being on stage. Something that my parents wish had never happened.

Since the year 1997, its been a long journey with the performing arts. For the first few years I tried to balance it with my academics, but later I felt I was wasting time and was not giving enough to what is important for my career. So I quit college.

I was 20. I had no formal training in the arts. I was not considered born with talent. Many a times I felt what others were saying was true, that I really was just being impulsive. Thanks to the hardships that life and people around us offer, it kept me going.

I am glad that I did everything that I have done so far. Because it has let me be all of this  - Actor, Director, Writer, Filmmaker, Designer and a Human :-p
